So, I’ve been MIA on the yoga mat for over a week now, thanks to the delightful surprise of the flu. It started innocently enough with just me feeling under the weather, but soon my husband caught it, and now he’s dealing with a full-blown asthma attack. It’s like our home turned into a viral hotspot, and the only thing spreading faster than the flu is our misery.
Now, let’s talk about the downsides of not being able to do yoga. First off, my flexibility feels like it’s packed its bags and gone on a vacation. My joints are creaking, my muscles are stiff, and don’t even get me started on my mental state. Yoga is my sanctuary, my go-to for keeping stress at bay, and without it, I’ve been feeling like a bundle of nerves wrapped in a blanket of discomfort.
And oh, the body! After just a week without yoga, it’s like my body has forgotten everything it knew. Going back is going to be a challenge, and I can already hear my muscles groaning in anticipation of that first downward dog. It’s like trying to train a stubborn cat to do tricks – not impossible, but definitely not easy.
Master G even reached out to check on us. Bless her heart, she must be missing our post-yoga dance videos as much as I do. It feels nice to know we’re missed, but it also adds to the longing to get back on the mat and into the routine.
As I sit here, tissues in one hand and herbal tea in the other, all I can think about is the sweet relief of being fully recovered and back to my yoga practice. I miss the stretches, the peace, and the feeling of accomplishment after a good session. Here’s to hoping this flu leaves us soon and we can both breathe easy and flow through our favorite poses once more.
Until then, stay healthy, stay happy, and if you can, do a little extra yoga for me!
